We’ve talked to a number of Naviance ActiveMatch customers who said they weren’t doing anything special with the students who opt-in to connecting with their institutions. In some cases, they don’t even import the names of students who have connected with them via ActiveMatch, because “the student is already in our inquiry database.”
As almost everyone involved in the college application process knows, a CEEB code (short for College Entrance Examination Board) is a unique code assigned to high schools and colleges to ensure that test scores, transcripts and other application documents are submitted to the right institutions. A CEEB code identifies the institution the student comes from as well as where they are going.
The unsung heroes of the fall have to be the admissions staff members who are up before dawn to drive to their first high school of the day, and who then proceed to visit three or four more high schools before heading to an evening college fair…five days a week. Lynn University began working with Hobsons five years ago as part of a new initiative to address increasing enrollment goals and find innovative ways to reach students. They knew it was important to get in front of students who are in Naviance researching college options.
Using ActiveMatch to promote the university within Naviance has given UCSB the opportunity to connect with many students who are potentially a good fit. “We’re able to pinpoint areas and individuals who can see themselves at UCSB,” said Cuca Acosta, Associate Director. In recent years, as the university has incorporated more in-state recruitment, Ms. Acosta noted, “We could reconnect with students in our own back yard. That was the hidden gem.”
