HELOA, it's me…
Every year we look forward to attending the Higher Education Liaison Officers Association (HELOA) Conference. While this isn’t anything to do with Adele’s new single, the song ringing in our ears is keeping all of us amused.
HELOA members provide guidance, information and outreach activities to prospective higher education students, their families and guidance advisers throughout the United Kingdom. We’re delighted to support HELOA in our efforts to advance shared goals:
- When we make students aware of their opportunities, we can put them on a path to reach their education and career goals.
- When we connect students with best-fit institutions, we improve their chances of success.
This year I’ve had the pleasure of sitting on the judging panel for HELOA’s Innovation and Best Practice Awards. Having read through vast numbers of submissions I was excited to see the diversity and impact of the projects going on all over the UK such as outreach programmes, programmes targeting at risk groups and systems-based projects. I know they are just a small proportion of the brilliant work that HELOA members do every day.
Congratulations to the 2016 award finalists:
- Sheffield Hallam University: Community Engagement
- University of Derby: Ram Jam
- KCL STEM Summer School
If you’re planning to attend the conference 27-29 January, we hope you’ll come and say hi and introduce yourselves. We’d love to meet with you and learn more about how we can support you in your every day work.
