The main Hobsons U 2014 activities kicked-off on Tuesday with a bang! Attendees came in from all over the globe– some as far as southern Australia– to have some fun in Nashville, develop their product skills, share their knowledge, and get to know one another. Here’s a quick recap of the day’s big events.
Welcome and Keynote Session
Craig Heldman, ceo of Hobsons, kicked-off our morning session with a presentation on the important role Hobsons U plays in the journey for both Hobsons and our clients. He outlined how Hobsons is focused on helping our clients learn, engage, and succeed in their partnership with us.
Student Success Panel
The morning session also included a student success panel who provided their perspectives on what affects student success in today’s K-12 and higher education landscape. Great discussion arose around key challenges for defining student success, the diversity of needs of students today, what we can do to focus on better student engagement across the student lifecycle, and how to increase collaboration between K-12 and higher education. Panelists included Joyce E. Smith, cEO of NACAC; Daniel A. Domenech, executive director of AASA; and Robert Hansen, ceo of UPCEA.
Over 600 of our Hobsons U attendees participated in the conference networking lunch. Attendees were grouped at tables based on their institution type and participated in a series of ice breakers and discussion activities in order to make connections and share best practices. It even included a photo competition!
Hobsons staff and representatives from some of our partner institutions led our general session presentations throughout the day. There was a packed house for the Radius Showcase and Roadmap session.
