“Upgraded by Hobsons” highlights expert strategies and real-life examples of college and career readiness, access, and success
ARLINGTON, Va. – March 1, 2016 – Hobsons, a leading provider of college readiness, admissions, and advising solutions, today announced the launch of a new monthly podcast aimed at helping students, families, and educators connect learning to life. In each episode, Upgraded by Hobsons features stories from students, educators, and thought leaders that explore topics ranging from implementing social-emotional learning techniques in the classroom to developing personalized learning pathways, and exploring new ways to engage students and families in and out of school.
Developed in collaboration with Pacific Content – creators of the popular Slack Variety Pack podcast – the Upgraded series of 30-minute podcasts explores how students, families, and educational institutions are working together to help students reach their full potential. Through one-on-one interviews and original reporting, Upgraded brings to light stories of hope, discovery, and success in education.

“From embracing the benefits of failure to hearing insider stories of inspiring education models and student success, our new podcast series is perfect for anyone who cares about education and about inspiring students to explore a lifetime of opportunities,” said Dan Obregon, Vice President of Marketing and User Experience at Hobsons. “We hope to serve as a resource to anyone working with students to reach their goals by offering listeners behind-the-scenes insights from education leaders, authors, researchers, and entrepreneurs who are passionate about the power of education and devoted to helping students succeed.”
In the pilot episode, Upgraded explores a whole new take on higher education during a visit to Minerva schools, where everything is taught with the future in mind. (Imagine a university without lectures, labs, a football team, or buildings). The team also takes a trip to Texas to an elementary school that unlocks a meaningful connection between learning and living. In other segments, listeners hear the do’s and don’ts of emailing a professor, and learn a thing or two about why experiencing failure at an early age could be the secret to success.
The podcast will be released monthly and is available through iTunes, accompanied by ongoing discussion on the Hobsons blog.
