Job Summary

Do you want to showcase your development skillset? Do you want to learn and enhance your fullstack capabilities in building SaaS product that is used by millions of students nationwide? Do you want to apply what you have learned in the classroom to solving real world technical challenges?

We are looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our growing product development team for the summer. The intern at Hobsons will be involved in development projects for our market-leading K-12 SaaS application. Your work will focus on using standard object-oriented design patterns to design and develop web services, with additional opportunities for contributions throughout the entire application stack (from the data layer to the presentation layer).

We are seeking candidates that have a knack for learning, strong development experience, and who are passionate about the latest industry trends and innovations occurring in SaaS products.

 

This position will be located in: Arlington, VA (Clarendon metro)

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Participate in complete Software Development Lifecycle as a member of an Agile Scrum Team
  • Design, develop, and test software components using modern technologies
  • Collaborate with other team members to incorporate best practices and innovations into our products
  • Leverage team development standards, patterns, and design principles in daily activities
  • Stay current on technology trends and identify ways to innovate our products in the education space

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed at least 2 years of post-secondary education pursuing B.S. in Computer Science or related field
  • Knowledge of working in an Agile Scrum environment
  • Experience using Java and modern JavaScript (ReactJS, NodeJS) frameworks
  • Experience using MySQL
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must have availability for 35 hours/week
  • Must be able to travel to and from the office on your own accord
