I first learned about Naviance, Hobsons’ postsecondary school and career readiness tool, in 2014 while working on the last edition of the Job Guide, an Australian Government Department of Education careers guide. I found Naviance really easy to use and was impressed by the wealth of information and self-discovery tools on offer that help students achieve their tertiary education goals by linking learning to life.
Schools across the United States have embraced technology and global best practices to create a student-centric community of career advisers, teachers, and parents to assist the next generation in their learning, exploration, and planning for life after secondary school.
But Naviance by Hobsons is not just in the United States. The tool is used by more than 8 million students, in more than 9,000 schools, in more than 100 countries.
Now we have officially launched Naviance in Australia. We are busy adding Australian course and institution content for universities, TAFEs, and private Registered Training Organisations. We will also be doing the same for UK and Indian institutions to ensure that Naviance is a truly global platform.
We are progressively adding information on institutions, their campuses and course offerings, and linking them to hundreds of occupation descriptions. This will allow students to read about a particular occupation and then see which institutions offer courses that will lead to their chosen career.
At Hobsons, our work helps students succeed in school and in life. In Australia, Hobsons has been well known and respected for quality career and course data. Our Australian Course Information Register has been utilised by education and training institutions for more than 10 years. Now, with Naviance, we get to use that knowledge and expertise globally to help students explore in meaningful ways the connection between education and careers as they progress through school.
