Hobsons, Universities UK and the International Unit join forces for international education forum
17 January 2013
Hobsons, the leader in recruitment, communication and student success solutions for higher education, today announced a major conference with Universities UK and the International Unit.
The International Higher Education Forum: Competing globally in a crowded market will be held on Wednesday 17th April 2013 at the Woburn House Conference Centre in London.
This important event in the international higher education calendar will be the first major UK based opportunity to understand the challenges ahead in 2013 and collectively set the future for international student recruitment.
Delegates will discuss and debate topics, including:
- The latest developments in overseas marketing, competition and recruitment as well as dealing with agents
- Opportunities for partnership and collaboration and best practice in recruitment and retention of international students
- Existing opportunities designed to help you develop international strategies
Higher education is one of the UK’s most valuable exports, and the UK is the preferred choice of destination for hundreds of thousands of students from around the world. However, in recent times there have been a number of challenges to the UK’s reputation – from the impact of government immigration reforms to the changes to fees and funding.
Confirmed speakers at the event include:
- The Rt Hon David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science
- Professor Colin Riordan, Vice-Chancellor, Cardiff University
- Phil Honeywood, Executive Director, International Education Association of Australia
- Jo Doyle, Director of the International Office, University of Southampton
- Vincenzo Raimo, Director of the International Office, University of Nottingham
- Mike Gibbons, Director, International Development, University of Manchester
- Alan Mackay, Head of International Office, University of Edinburgh
Duncan Findlater, Hobsons Director of Product and Client Services commented “Hobsons are delighted to be supporting this important event and to be able to share our experiences of supporting international student recruitment at UK universities. Despite the recent challenges the ingredients that make UK higher education such an attractive prospect are still in place. The aim of this forum is to help universities and other organisations overcome these challenges and find ways to work together.”
