Partnership aims to motivate Texas students to increase achievement.

Arlington, VA Leander Independent School District (LISD) selected Naviance, the leading provider of measurable student success solutions for K-12 schools and districts, to provide Naviance Succeed® across five high schools. The partnership aims to motivate Texas students to increase achievement by connecting post-secondary goals with coursework and college-planning activities.

“To better prepare for college and work, students should feel inspired to raise their course rigor and their expectations of themselves,” said Camille Clay, director of career and technical education, LISD. “Extending our student support network through Naviance Succeed will help students learn about themselves, develop a vision of their future and collaborate with teachers, counselors and family members to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.”

Naviance Succeed integrates critical tools for career, college, course, and success planning into a single powerful solution. Combined with robust analytics, powerful communication tools and a student/family portal, these four functional areas raise accountability and performance across a number of key indicators and lead to increased engagement, improvements in academic performance and overall workplace and college readiness.

Additionally, Naviance is developing a Succeed addition that will allow Texas high schools and districts to monitor student progress in career and technical education through Career and Technical Education (CTE) code calculation. In 2006, President George W. Bush signed the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act into law to increase the quality of career and technical education (formerly known as “vocational education”) in the United States. To aid in fulfilling the Perkins reporting requirements, Texas high schools assign every student a CTE indicator code to track the student’s level of engagement in career and technical education. LISD will implement Naviance CTE code calculation and course planning in the fall of 2012.

Leander ISD joins other Texas school districts using Naviance Succeed – including Goose Creek CISD, Magnolia ISD and Austin ISD – to better prepare students for post-secondary success. Nearly 5,400 schools worldwide rely on Naviance Succeed to help students make better choices and improve achievement.  LISD is one of the fastest growing school districts in the state, educating more than 32,000 students at its 36 campuses.
