Total Reader

Reading comprehension is vital to college and career readiness. Total Reader offers a unique reading improvement system that enables students to measure their reading level and make progress over time.

The solution leverages the Lexile® Framework for Reading, a scientific approach to reading measurement that matches a student’s reading aptitude with the difficulty of text material. A student’s Lexile score represents the degree to which he or she can read with 75 percent comprehension, the level at which a reader is both comfortable and appropriately challenged.

When used with Naviance, Total Reader helps schools and districts:

• Identify, measure, and develop each student’s reading ability
• Provide individualized reading selections based on a student’s skill level
• Track progress in improving reading comprehension
• Encourage improved scores by collaborating with students, teachers, and parents
• Report on information at the student, school, and district levels
