Texas Records Exchange System (TREx)

National Transcript Center (NTC) is the vendor selected by TEA to develop and maintain TREx, the statewide solution for sending student records/transcripts electronically to institutions within the state of Texas.

Visit the official TEA site for more information at www.tea.state.tx.us/index4.aspx?id=3190.

TREx National Option

Districts can also opt to use the TREx National Option directly with National Transcript Center. Once a district is enrolled in TREx National Option, TREx users in that district will be able to send records and transcripts to any school in the country – public or private, in-state or out-of-state, PK-12 or higher ed - and even to scholarship providers and certification bodies like the NCAA.

All transactions within the TREx scope (i.e., public-to-public, in-state) will continue to be free-of-charge; there is a $5.00 fee for each out-of-scope transaction. TEA estimates that it costs a district almost $8 and takes about 30 minutes to send a record/transcript on paper. TREx National Option will enable TREx users to use the same electronic process to send records/transcripts anywhere in the country, within the mandated TREx scope or beyond.

Manual data entry

Districts that do not have student information systems or whose SIS has not yet created the data extract are now able to enter records into TREx manually. There are only a few required fields to be entered; other information can be provided as an attachment.

Private school support

Texas private PK-12 schools that wish to join the TREx network can pay a fee to do so. The school will have to meet the TREx data standards. Then, the private school will be able to send free-of-charge through TREx to any in-state public school just as if it were public.

Dual credit support

Institutions of higher education can also send transcripts to high schools for students who are getting dual credit at both the high school and college levels.
