I’m a Naviance Nerd

When you work with Naviance for any length of time, you eventually have that light bulb moment when everything clicks into place. A counselor or student will find that unique feature or tool they absolutely love and can’t live without. I like to call this a Naviance Nerd moment.
I myself have had my own Naviance Nerd moments; from tools that can transform a process to others that provide access to information that might not always be so easy to find. My current obsession is Success Planning.
So how can students excel with Success Planning? Let’s say a student wants to focus on a particular academic goal for the school year, for instance, improving their Algebra grade. With Success Planning, students can set goals, like doing better in Algebra, and track their progress towards achieving that goal.
The goal can also be broken down into to-dos — things like studying for a test, doing homework, or attending tutoring. Additionally, students can comment on their own progress. This allows counselors to view how well students are doing so they may provide assistance when needed.
Goal setting creates focus and triggers realistic commitments to success. Instead of wondering how to get everything done in a day or even a week, students can plan ahead and easily prioritize to ensure they meet every goal they set out to achieve.
