Recently, Hobsons introduced the long-awaited mobile app for Naviance, Naviance Student. Since then we’ve been hearing lots of great feedback from schools. Naviance Student helps students conduct college research and stay organized with their tasks and assignments. The app is fully synced with Family Connection, allowing students to look for schools, plan college visits and stay up to date on tasks from any location.
One district near Indianapolis, MSD Pike Township, took part in the Naviance Student pilot program and shared several insights about how the app ties into their goal of creating a college- and career-ready student body. Karen Bush, the District Graduation Coach, identified four main reasons why she has promoted the app for her schools.
- Overcoming the information hurdle: Sometimes the greatest barrier to students understanding options for their futures is a lack of access to good information.
- “It’s on the app”: When a student asks, how much does it cost to go to Boston College? A counselor or teacher can say, “Check Naviance Student!”
- Staying on track with a device that students use every day: Students can stay up to date when they receive tasks assigned to them as push notifications. They can also create new tasks, set reminders and ask questions of counselors right from the app. College deadlines can be added directly to their success plans with one tap.
- Middle school student engagement: With Naviance Student, middle school students are much more interested in college exploration and thinking about their futures. They “feel like adults” because they have the same app as the high school students.
