Hobsons promotes social responsibility by working with a number of education charity organisations to provide funding for school supplies and facilities in local communities. Each year, we also contribute to the building of schools in developing nations so that children around the world will have access to education and gain the skills they need to thrive.
Corporate Philanthropy
For more than 10 years, Hobsons has proudly support PLAN, an international charity whose efforts improve education for young people in some of the world’s most impoverished countries. Hobsons’ employees have travelled to Namibia, Nicaragua, Malaysia, Guatemala, Laos, Kenya, Vietnam, Bolivia, Ghana, Rwanda and the Dominican Republic to build vital educational facilities, attend the openings of new schools and distribute necessary school materials.
Employees in each office also raise funds to improve education within the communities where they live and work. Through the Adopt A Class program, for example, our Cincinnati office has teamed up with an elementary school classroom to provide mentorship and friendship to students through various activities throughout the year.
In Australia, we sponsor the Indigenous Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies in Career Development, which is a first for Australia and career development. The scholarship will cover tuition costs to study an accredited course that will enable registration as a career development practitioner who will be able to provide a leadership role with insights and cultural perspectives, as well as a deeper understanding of career, work, employment and community issues that need to be considered and addressed for Indigenous Australians.
Environment and Sustainability
As Hobsons employees, we acknowledge our responsibility to the environment. Throughout the years, we have established a number of programs to reduce our carbon footprint.
By contributing to Climate Care, a non-profit organisation that funds carbon-reduction and energy-efficient projects across the globe, we offset all CO2 emissions that result from our business travel. Through server virtualisation, we have significantly reduced the number of physical servers, power consumption and manufacturing waste within our offices while ensuring that our state-of-the-art systems are more efficient than ever. Within our offices, we make recycling simple for all employees with paper, plastic and aluminum collection.
In addition to becoming greener within our offices, we develop technology solutions that enable our clients to connect with students in environmentally friendly ways, eliminating the production and cost involved with printing and mailing materials.
