Hobsons is seeking a talented and energetic Systems Engineer to join our growing product development team in our Arlington, VA office. The Systems Engineer at Hobsons will be involved in building solid and secure enterprise level infrastructure for our market-leading K-12 SaaS application, which is built on an open source LAMP architecture.  We are seeking candidates that have strong system administration experience and who are passionate about the latest industry trends and innovations occurring in web based products.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Ensure availability, scalability, performance, and security of Naviance’s infrastructure
  • Perform software, hardware, and network configuration and installation
  • Monitor system and network health, identify performance bottlenecks, and propose innovative solutions
  • Manage Bind, Apache, MySQL, SSH, Load balancer, and Mail server
  • Provide rotational after-hour / weekend on-call support as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, learning, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Linux and network administration; RHEL/CentOS preferred
  • Professional experience managing a LAMP architecture with a proven record of reliability
  • Must be fluent with CLI
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Virtualization experience is a plus; vSphere preferred
  • MySQL experience is a plus

 

Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
